Chili Run:  Chili Cookers Needed!

Chili cookers/chefs are the key to this fun event!  The first 100 riders to register are the "official" judges!

Exeter is famous for its annual Chili Cook-off held in November at the City Hall Parking lot.  There are as many as 30 contestants; so, Exeter folks know and appreciate their chili!

Chili Chefs should think, "free-style!" Anything and everything is OK.  Probably the spicier the better.  Remember, it'll be chilly on the road and riders will need something both thermally and spicy hot to warm them.    Your chili can be prepared prior to coming on location, just consider good food safety and handling procedures.  If you're at one of the lake sites, you'll need something to keep it warm--camp stove, propane burner, generator, etc.  The City park locations will have access to electricity.

Here's what we're planning (and have done in past years...) is THREE Locations where chili will be sampled--two stops on the ride (Lemon Hill/Lake Kaweah,  Lake Success/Porterville) and a final stop at Exeter City Park (Chestnut and S. E Streets).

We need at least three chili vendors at each location--BUT the more the merrier!

Each chili cooker should prepare enough chili for 300-350  2 oz. samples.  That's roughly 3-1/2 to 4 gallons. The committee will provide paper sample cups (so they'll be of a consistent size...) and you'll need to provide plastic spoons and napkins.  A Garbage can would be nice too!  If you are representing a club, organization, or business, please feel free to advertise at your table.   You will need a cooking source (camp stove, propane burner, BBQ) whatever suits your fancy--and of course, your "award-winning" product.  Nothing is out of bounds here--remember your audience--motorcyclists brave enough to come out in early March and take a 100+ mile ride in the country!

There will be prizes for the cookers:  1st place: $300; 2nd place: $200; and 3rd place: $100. (Judging: The first 100 folks to register for the ride are "official" judges, armed with a scorecard.  Those results will be tabulated by an out-of-work engineer to determine the first three places.)

A refundable entry fee of $25 is required to register.  This entry fee will be refunded when your samples are exhausted.
